Mr. Shao specializes in consumer protection and complex financial litigation, including class actions and mass arbitrations aimed at protecting the average consumer against corporate misconduct. He leverages his robust legal experience and technical insight to deliver personalized and tenacious advocacy for R23’s clients.
Peng previously worked at a national firm headquartered in the East Coast, specializing in consumer financial litigation – representing various Fortune 50 corporations and bulge bracket banks. Before his time in BigLaw, Peng practiced at a leading class action firm in San Francisco, where he gained experience litigating complex class matters on behalf of plaintiffs concerning consumer protection, antitrust, financial services, investor protection against securities fraud, and civil rights class violations. Peng has also collaborated with governmental entities such as the SEC for securities fraud investigations and the CFPB.
Peng is a graduate of UC Davis School of Law, and holds a BS in Biological Engineering from University of Kentucky. During and after law school, Peng earned invaluable experience learning behind the federal bench at the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California; and in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio. Peng is also a published scientist in the Journal of BioChemistry, and has extensive professional experience in the medical and hospitality industry.
Peng sits in R23 Law’s Los Angeles office. He was the captain of his law school’s soccer team, is an avid skier, and enjoys spending time with his 14-year-old Poodle Shitzu mix.
Mr. Calehuff focuses his practice on complex class-based litigation and consumer protection matters. As a fully trained computer engineer and data scientist, Mr. Calehuff infuses his technical expertise with an extensive litigation background to deliver for his clients.
Before joining R23 Law, Mr. Calehuff worked at a national biglaw firm advising major corporations. He is also experienced in intellectual property, data privacy, medical/healthcare disputes, and catastrophic injury. Currently, Mr. Calehuff handles complex litigation matters across state, federal, and arbitral forums for consumers nationwide.
Mr. Calehuff’s legal expertise spans a variety of practice areas across multiple industries – including consumer finance, contractual disputes, product liability, employment, tenant protection, healthcare disputes, and catastrophic personal injury.
Mr. Calehuff is a graduate from University of California, Santa Barbra with a degree in economics, and earned his Juris Doctorate from University of California, Davis. He also has studied political science abroad at Frei Universität in Berlin, and European business law at University College Dublin. Mr. Calehuff also holds a Master’s in Data Science from University of San Francisco.
Mr. Calehuff is a silicon valley native, and sits in R23 Law’s San Francisco office. He is also a life-long skier, and spends his free time traveling the world.
Mattew L. Collins, a native of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, focuses his practice on consumer related litigation counseling while maintaining a full-service practice serving clients across a diverse spectrum of industries. Although Mr. Collins is not licensed to practice law in California – and do not provide direct legal services to R23 Law’s California clients – he brings a decade of invaluable legal experience, insight, and nation-wide strategic savvy to R23 Law’s Legal Team from his office in Kentucky.
Mr. Collins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Kentucky, and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law. His extensive legal experience spans all aspects of civil litigation, catastrophic personal injury, and serving as outside general counsel to several corporations across the bluegrass state.
Mr. Collins is an avid fly fisherman, traveler, and lifelong soccer player. Outside of work, he enjoys fly fishing in the streams of Montana and Idaho, fine dining, and traveling the globe with his wife. He is also an avid supporter of the North London football club Tottenham Hotspur.
Michael McShane is the Outside Director of Marketing at R23 Law. As an integral part of R23 Law’s inception and growth, he helps to manages the firm’s marketing strategies and business-development vendor relations. Hailing from a family of lawyers back in his homeland of Ireland, Mr. McShane discovered that his true talents lie in marketing and strategy upon immigrating to the United States. Known for his strategic approach, Michael has a proven ability to craft data-driven marketing initiatives that deliver measurable results - thus making him an integral part of R23 Law’s continued growth and strategic development.
Mr. McShane earned a MBA in Marketing Strategy from San Diego State University, and a BA in Marketing/Media from Liverpool John Moores University. He also brings a wealth of industry experience, including leading high-impact campaigns for various national luxury, entertainment, and hospitality brands.
Outside of work, Mr. McShane is a life-long skier of the Swiss Alps; dedicated family man (two french bulldog puppies and a surgeon wife), and is proud to be one of the most rabid supporters for his football club in the Stretford End of Salford.
Ms. Erdenechimeg is the Director of Finance at R23 Law. She has more than a decade of management and accounting experience in a range of industries, including telecommunications, logistics, and employee benefits. Ms. Erdenechimeg coordinates the day-to-day administrative and finance operations of the firm.
Ms. Erdenechimeg was born and raised in Mongolia, but currently sits in R23 Law’s Los Angeles office. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Education, and a Masters in Business Administration. Ms. Erdenechimeg spends her free time practicing yoga, camping, and is excited to begin her second ski season on the slopes.
Ellyshah “Elly” Giana La Torre is the Manager of Legal Administration for R23 Law. Despite her young age, Ms. La Torre brings extensive experience in client management, administrative management, and operations from various industries – including legal, mortgage/lending, and real estate.
Ms. La Torre holds a Bachelors of Arts in English Linguistics, and is fluent in both English and Tagalog. She is also a fully trained mixologist and musician, and enjoys spending her free time performing at local music venues, traveling, and tending to her family (including her 3 dogs - two dachshunds and a husky).
